My name is Kyleigh and I’m the creator of Morning Marigolds! My Vegan journey hasn’t been an easy one, but let me tell you, it has been the best decision of my life. Beginning as an omnivore from a serious “meat and potatoes” family, it took me a really long time to finally make the jump to living an entirely Vegan lifestyle. At 16 I began watching a lot of documentaries about the Factory Farming industry and the affects that animal products can have on your health. That new found knowledge combined with general feelings of guilt, really influenced me to make the official jump a few years later (after a couple failed attempts at just being vegetarian). After committing to this new way of living I began to really fall in love with the art of baking.
Sweets in general have always made me feel like I was home, from chocolate chip cookies to cinnamon rolls for breakfast. My love for all things sugar based came from my mother, the kind of person who makes sure no-one ever went to bed without dessert and that our fridge was properly stocked with various ice cream flavors. It was a part of my life that I loved, and initially I thought going Vegan meant that all of that had to end. After all, how can you recreate these things that “need” dairy and eggs without losing a crucial part of the end product? Well here’s news, they don’t need it and not only can you recreate these foods but you can make them taste even better! Veganism isn’t just kale and quinoa salads, and thats where my recipes come in, here I hope to show the world that incredible baking and pastry artistry can all be done plant based. I want people to know that they have options, and just because you’re avoiding animal bi-products doesn’t mean that you can’t have GREAT dessert!
Apart from just being an aspiring Vegan baker, Im also working on things like mindfulness and how to be more connected with the world around me. I want this blog to be a space where I can share my recipes, adventures, and ideas about how to live in a more positive and impactful way. So I hope you’d be interested in following along, be it for vegan recipes, or just various other life stuff that I might expand into talking about. I appreciate any support and I hope you enjoy my recipes and blog! (:
- I would like to make a quick disclaimer that I am not a Dietitian, or a Psychologist, or even a “Professional” baker. Im just a normal person who loves to bake plant based foods and wants to share that love with the people of the internet. So please don’t take any thing I say as serious nutrition information, and the majority of my recipes, unless stated, would probably not be considered “balanced, healthy, meals”. Im not trying to sell you on health food, just compassion and dessert!
